The Holman Moody prepared gold and black #4 GT MKII (chassis #P1016) had a two-speed semi-automatic transmission. Mario Andretti and A J Foyt managed a 12th place finish.

The white #3 Holman Moody prepared GT MKII, driven by Walt Hansgen and Mark Donohue came in second place.

Two Alan Mann prepared lightweight GT MKIs in the pits. #24 was driven by Jackie Stewart/Graham Hill, and #25 was driven by Sir John Whitmore and Frank Gardner. Both dnf'd.

The Alan Mann prepared GT MKIs had 289 engines with Weber carbs, with lightweight elecktron alloy body panels for the nose, roof and tail.

Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant were in first place in the Shelby prepared #2 GT MKII when the engine failed. Gurney would have finished second, but was disqualified when he pushed the car to the finish line.
